Help NOSI pick a logo design directionHelp NOSI pick a logo! We're in the beginning stages of choosing a logo - and these are the two directions our designer has worked on so far. The steering committee is split, so we decided to get community input. These are not final - there will be changes in color, and the like, but they are two very different directions, and we need some guidance. I like design #1. The second one is very cool provided that you already know that you're looking at something called nosi, but is hard to read if you do not. If you like that interlocking shapes look, make them more abstract rather than less, and don't have them actually spell anything.
Ooh! Ooh! Number Two!
Number Two is way better. The first one looks like an Apple Pages (tm) template: nice but boring.
The second one is powerful and, especially appropriate for an Open Source organization, echos the new Python look. Good company, I'd say.

Number two is hard, sharp, techie - looks like the logo you'd find on a piece of equipment. Number is warm, fuzzy, inclusive...

i agree with others that the second logo is difficult to read. that obscure/confusing logo makes me think 'is open source confusing?'
